A-COLD-WALL*

Inspired by the British class system our latest collaboration sees traditional elements of working-class uniform meet sharp, architectural tailoring.

Known for his use of socio-political graphics and his questioning of authority, A-COLD-WALL* founder Samuel Ross has set a new precedent for how we navigate  streetwear. His long-running commentary on the British social climate gets louder with every season — and his partnership with Dr. Martens is no different. In our first ever collaboration, two brands with working class roots unite for a boot that takes on social hierarchy.

“Celebrating the structural form of an icon, this collaboration explores new construction and pattern techniques. Samuel Ross is a master of the art of refinement. Here he’s refined the 1460 through his creative lens.” — Darren McKoy, Global Footwear Director, Dr. Martens

Our first boot rolled off the production line six decades ago. And we’ve been lacing up workers all around the world ever since.

Renowned for mixing traditional working uniforms with subcultural fashion, A-COLD-WALL*’s cultural proximity to the 1460 boot is unmatched. Samuel Ross has taken a design championed by the working classes since the 60s and augmented key details of the iconic silhouette through his innovative lens.

“The 1460 is placed right in the middle of 20th Century cultural crosshairs. It’s incredible.” — Samuel Ross, A-COLD-WALL* founder

The 1460 A-COLD-WALL* is a clash of social boundaries: blue-collar uniform meets high-end tailoring. Premium hits pragmatic. Sharp, deconstructionist details nod to Ross’ minimalistic design principles and his tailored approach to a working class attire. Crafted with pointed, angular features, no eyelets and an added side zip, it’s one of our most unorthodox collaborations to date. The boots are finished with a dual-branded silicone zip pull, moulded panel detailing and an A-COLD-WALL* branded heel debossment.
